Two drugmakers have announced the resumption of US testing of their Covid-19 vaccine candidates.
Testing of AstraZenecas vaccine candidate had been halted since early September, while Johnson & Johnsons vaccine study was paused at the beginning of last week. Each company had a study volunteer develop a serious health issue, requiring a review of safety data.
The two coronavirus vaccines are among several candidates in final-stage testing, the last step before seeking regulatory approval.

There has been a huge spike in coronavirus cases across Somerset over the past 24 hours.
Today (October 23) 184 infections have been recorded across all six areas in the county,
Today’s figures are 18 times than those being recorded at the end of September, which were around 10 per day.
For the second consecutive day, North Somerset saw the biggest rise, with 62 new cases.
Bath and North East Somerset also reported a significant increase, with 55 positive lab tests overnight.
