Edinson CavaniI’m happy to concede that I thought signing Cavani was nothing more than an expensive stab in the dark, albeit from a club that can afford them. He was a free agent after being released by Paris Saint-Germain and had only started seven league games in his final 12 months in France. Given the high wages and ageing legs, it seemed that Manchester United’s transfer scattergun had misfired again.
All that now looks foolish. Cavani clearly kept his fitness up during his final year…
