US health officials have rowed back on controversial advice issued last month that said people without Covid-19 symptoms should not get tested.

South Yorkshire will be plunged into Tier 3 lockdown from 12.01am on Saturday with pubs and bars forced to shut.
Another 1.4million people will be lashed with the harshest restrictions after the news was confirmed today by Sheffield City Region mayor Dan Jarvis.
It affects the council areas of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield, Mr Jarvis told MPs.
As in all Tier 3 areas, pubs and bars must shut unless they can operate as a restaurant serving “substantial” meals.

It comes after a further 21 coronavirus patients have died in hospitals across the Liverpool City Region
The number of coronavirus patients in Liverpool’s University Hospitals is expected to pass the April peak on Wednesday.
Professor Stephen Powis made the statement at the latest press briefing in Downing Street on Tuesday evening as cases and deaths continue to rise in Merseyside.
Speaking alongside the prime minster, Prof Powis said: “I expect that Liverpool University Hospitals will have more patients by tomorrow with Covid in their hospitals than they had at the peak in April.”

This new heatmap shows the areas where coronavirus is spreading fastest across the country.
A set of graphs, presented at a press briefing on Tuesday, revealed that parts of the North West, North East and Midlands were experiencing the fastest growth in the virus.
It came as Greater Manchester was forced into Tier 3 – meaning businesses will be forced to close and people will be banned from mixing with other households – after talks between local leaders and Westminster broke down.
