Charlton Athletic are considering taking legal action against the Football League following the news that Sheffield Wednesdays 12 point deduction will be imposed next season.
The Owls finished 16th in the Championship, eight points clear of the relegation places.
Had the EFL elected to impose the deduction now, taking it away from their 2019-20 total, then they would have found themselves in the third tier next term – with the Addicks staying in the Championship.
